The ever reliable Pentatonic ....
A guitar student of mine years back once asked, "Will a guitarist using simple pentatonic scales go places and be somebody??"
Well to be entirely frank, yes "he" can.. Pentatonic scales are very powerful. That is, if properly injected or used within the chord progression.. Almost every music genre can use pentatonic as an "alternative" for solo perfection... Can be easily improvised and connected to other relavant scales as well (like blues scale / jazz scale.. etc.. etc..). Names like Ace Frehley (KISS) , Kirk Hammett (Metallica) , Zakk Wylde and Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) used the scale and had gone where ??? places ?? (Not to mention bein' somebody !! ):D
